87 Years. Pain In Legs And Weakness. On Anticoagulant. Detected Anemic, Prescribed Chest X-ray. Necessary?
Hi my 87 yr old mother has been on some type of anticoagulant (warfarin perhaps). Has been complaining of leg pain,and weakness. Her last visit the dr said she was anemic and wanted to do chest xray. She thinks all is due to the medication, I said no- but I see anemia may be a side effect, esp if she is bleeding somewhere. Why the chest xray? She is not short of breath.

Anemia may make your immune system down which will help infections to accur so rule out lung infections as your mother is 87 years old your doctor advised chest x-ray so that if there is any infection early treatment is done.Give here iron rich foods and keep in mind that they may also cause constipation.And about warfarin side effects include abdominal pain,bleeding,nausea,loss of appetite etc.Thank you.
