A couple of weeks ago my 84 yr old mother (who is in very good health and just got back from a vacation out of the country) woke up with the tip of her middle finger numb. after about 10 days it spread to her entire middle finger and her pointer plus it has begun hurting and waking her up during the night. The numbness doesn't go away although it subsides during the day.
She has had arthritis for years and she used to knit almost every night, but now b/c of the arthritis she doesn't knit often.
