Hello and welcome to HCM,
AST and
ALT are two
liver enzymes which are released in blood during damage to the liver cells.
The normal levels of both the enzymes is 0-40 IU/L.
Your report indicates a high AST level but ALT level is within normal limits.
This is only a margival increase in the level of AST.
In liver cell
injury and
necrosis, there is concurrent increase in the levels of both the enzymes and the increase is quite high.
The normal level for
total bilirubin is between 0.3-1.0 mg/dL.
The increase in total bilirubin is marginal.
Bilirubin consists of two components- direct and indirect.
Direct and indirect levels have to be determined to know the type of disease process.
The increase is only marginal so nothing much to worry.
Direct and indirect bilirubin levels can help further.
You can post the levels of direct and indirect bilirubin for further work up.
Thanks and take care.
