Abdominal Pain, Grumbling Noise In Stomach, Mucous In Stools. See The Doctor?

Hi, I am a 24 yr old female with some intestinal issues. Since this morning my stomach has been making grumbling noises, however I am not hungry. There s been only some abdominal pain , but what concerned me was when I went to the bathroom and my stool came out stringy with some mucus . There was a bit of pain afterwards that lingered, but I m not sure what it is. No other noticeable symptoms. Does this warrant a visit to my physician?

Hi.Most probable diagnosis is Large intestinal infection. If you are from tropical country,it might be Ameobiasis. Please take care of the food you take and the water you drink. Please go for a broad spectrum anitbiotic with anerobic coverage. In addition, you take Pre and Probiotic capsule. All the best.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Akhilesh Dubey's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You seem to have suffered some kind of food poisoning or a intestinal infection may be viral or other agent.it may be just borborygmus due to indigestion and hyper acidity specially milk or dairy products with formation of gas in intestines.which can be cured by antacids and ranitidine like drugs.
If it subsides by it self just taking good amount of water and soft diet is enough, but if it persist and becomes severe then you should see a Physician,as if motions increase or accompanied by vomiting may cause dehydration or colicky pain.
If infection is suspected correction of dehydration and electrolytes imbalances if any.
if parasite like amoeba or bacterial infection is there specific therapy may be required.
Please take care.
Good Luck.
