When Would Constant Stomach Pain Due To Intake Of Naproxen Last?
I took 500 mg. of Naproxen 2 x this last Monday, 2 on Tuesday, and 1 on Wed. and then stopped due to black/tarry stools, and persistent stomach/abdominal pain. When will that amount of medicine clear my system, as it is now Friday and I am still having the persisten stomach/abdominal pain?
Hi, Your stomach pain is caused by the gastritis that the medication has caused rather than the medication staying in your system. It is likely that the amount of Naproxen left in your body is negligible. I suggest you avoid spicy foods or any other foods that you have found cause you indigestion. Avoid alcohol. Take an antacid. You are likely to feel better in a day or two. you can then resume usual food and alcohol. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger
