Abdominal Ultrasound Done. Are The Reports Normal?
If you have an Ultrasound and an abdominal u.s. that come back with cortical thickening and echotexture thinning and the kidneys show they are lower than the size in the previous ultrasound what does this mean? Then a year later you have another ultrasound and it comes back as normal ? Can that process reverse? My first abdominal ultrasound showed one kidney had cortical thickening and measurements were 12 and 10. Then second renal ultrasound a week later shows bilateral cortical thickening and echotexture thinning... sizes were 10 and 9. Then one year later .... sizes are 12 and 9 and no signs of thickening or thinning? Very confused
Hi Thanks for your query. Determining the kidney echo texture is often a subjective test and there might be some variation in the test results depending on the operator. We should do the following things to see if you have a kidney problem: 1) Check your blood pressure 2) Do blood tests: urea, creatinine 3) Do urine tests: Urine r/m and UPCR
Hope this helps Good luck
