About 13 months ago I had an abortion and had the Mirena inserted. About 4-6 months after having the mirena I began to have persistent moderately strong cramping which started about 7-10 days before my period and lasted until about 4-7 days after. My mom has endometriosis and I have always had severe cramping starting about 4-7 days before my period and ending on my second or third day of bleeding. Also I had three 5-7cm bilateral teratomas removed from my ovaries in August 2013, after the removal I had fairly regular cycles with much less cramping. Some other issues I have been having for about 8 or so months are very strong headaches, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, irregular periods with persistent spotting between, and bouts of dizziness/lightheadedness which happens when I am experiencing both cramps and hot flashes. I am very interested in having the Mirena removed and have expressed this to my doctor and thought these symptoms were because of the Mirena. However, my doctor seems to think that I could be experiencing early menopause (I am 29 years old), last week he sent me for a bunch of blood work and an EKG, but he has now gone on vacation and will be gone for a month. If this is in fact early menopause it will be devastating to me personally and to my relationship as my partner and I are planning on starting to try to conceive in 1-2 years. The reason we had not kept the pregnancy last year was because the oil market had crashed and we both lost our jobs the week before I found out I was pregnant.
Do you suppose this might just be side effects from the Mirena and if it is early menopause is there anyway my partner and I could have children in the future, either by trying right away or taking steps for future in-vitro?
