About 5 Months Ago, I First Starting To See Light Blood In My Stool. What Kind Of Disease Is This ?

I am 47, African American, 5 9 195. a little overweight but athletic (built like a smaller version of Mike Tyson haha). Active runner and weights. About 5 months ago, I first starting to see light blood (bright red) in my stool. This was followed by IBS. I would have the loudest, most embarrassing gas episodes, combined with small droplets or small stringy stools. Sometimes, the gas would seem to be releasing inside of me like, spontaneous combustion! Sometimes the blood then be on the toilet paper after. The stool would sometimes be covered with a white filmy substance. So, I dealt with this for about two months because I didn t have health insurance. I started doing research and saw a number of reasons for these symptoms (everything from cancer to hemorrhoids ). I started taking more fiber (Fiber 1, the one that has 57% of fiber recommended amount). Within a few days, my problems dissipated. I didnt see anymore obvious blood and the stools went back to normal. I never suffered weight loss but I have an some intermittent stomach pain. I guess over all, something still doesnt feel right. I have been having tailbone pain and gas. Sometimes, I feel like I can press on my tailbone and make the gas pass through. A few days ago, I was suffering from low energy but that is no longer the case. I am going to go to a clinic and tell them of my symptoms but was wondering if you have any knowledge of these symptoms or advice. Thank you!

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic family,
From your long history it seems that you have hemorrhoids with chronic intestinal infection, bacterial or amoebic.
All complains are due to this infection.
Take green vegetables, salads to increase more bulk,so constipation is avoided.
Go for stool test for type of infection and then treatment accordingly.
ok and bye.

hello,
from your history it appears to be either hemorrhoid or ibs . but without detail examination and investigation its difficult to give any diagnosis. better consult your surgeon and get evaluated for it. take care.

I'm having the same problem, it just started last week. This happened to me last year also, but it goes away. This second time though is scaring me cuz there is a lot of blood and I have to go bathroom to release gas and droplets of poop/mucus followed by some blood. My butt hurts also so I figure it's just hemroids, this started happening due to this one day when I had troubling pooping as it felt like I ripped my butt. that's when this started happening.

hi friend,
I AM an ayurvedic doctor
any way this may be due to hemorrhoid only . gas formation - according to our point of view may be due to the obstruction developed due to the hemorrhoid and the constipation. you use plenty of leafy and fiber food more, along with you can increase the usage of onion, cucumber, elephant foot yarm infood

Went to the Dr. and he took blood and had me do a stool sample for three days. He did not check for hemorrhoids like I thought he would. Should he have checked? The funny thing is right after my last day, I saw blood in the stool again. I do admit to slacking off fiber a bit. Lately, I have gone back to extreme IBS symptoms so I have added more fiber. The stool test takes 2 weeks from the time I took it in. I have since switched to a diet of 80 raw foods. I like this way of living. I will update when I know more. Thanks to all the doctors who contributed insight here.
Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Aashish Raghu's  Response
You probably suffering from Intestinal amoebiasis. It can give rise to blood in stools. Follow as per the Doctor's orders. A colonoscopy will help the Doctor figure out if there's any significant damage to your intestine and if necessary take a tiny biopsy. Drink plenty of water from now along with your fibre.

First, if you see blood in stool it is not IBS!
Get your stool examination and colonoscopy done after consulting a good clinician.

So, I had a stool test and the results showed 3 parasites. My IBS has been getting worse of late. I am going to get a colonoscopy but first want to see if getting rid of the parasites will make a difference. I do have random stomach pain but not bad. I have lost about 8 pounds in the last month or so. But I also havent been eating badly and Ive been working out. But I still think thats a bit fast for me. The parasites are Endolimax Nana, Dientamoeba Fragilis, and Blastocystis Hominis organisms. The PA at the clinic gave me Metronidazole 500mg 1 3x a day for 10 days. But the med did little to stop IBS symptoms. In doing my research of these parasites, I found that Dientamoeba Fragilis was the most resistant ones. I read many stories where those with this parasite (sometimes with Blastocycstis Hominis) had IBS symptoms, fatigue, weight loss, etc., which is very similar to what I am going through. I found that in many cases, patients were given Iodoquinol. So, I took the info to the PA (physican's Assistant at the clinic) and he agreed that the meds he gave me were not as strong but that all the clinic had. So, he made a prescription and i paid for it (about $65 for 28). The med is to be taken 1 tablet 2x a day for 14 days (this is only halfway into the 3rd day). The first 2 days, my bowel improved immediately. But today it's a not a good but better. After the 14 days, I suppose I need to do the colonscopy. He order me the procedure but it may take 3 months. I found a facility that does them for $600 but I figure if I go there and it's somewhat complicated then I have to pay for all kinds of treatments. I still sometimes have red blood when I wipe but never with the stool. I had two stool tests for blood and both came out negative. I still have bad lower back pain and sometimes tailbone pain. Dont know if its related as I am athletic and sometimes get injured. Just trying to see if I am doing the right thing. Any advise is very very appreciated. God Bless....

Dear Anonymous,
Your problem surely seems to be chronic amoebiasis with IBS following a bout of amoebic dysentry.Take metronidazole+norfloxacin combination along with Tab.Colospa 2 times a day till you feel better. Also avoid foods which trigger gas formation [mostly junk foods].
