Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing After Taking An Antibiotic?
I started an antibiotic Wednesday nite for a strep infection in my finger. Woke this morning with throat feeling tight and difficulty swallowing. Feel like I can breathe okay but my tongue also feels a little swollen. Could this be an allergic reaction?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. As per your complain difficulty in swallowing or throat feels tight with swollen tongue seems to be most probably a side effect of antibiotic. It can be due to Allergic reaction to antibiotics. I would suggest you to consult your physician and get evaluated. In case of Allergic reaction he can change the antibiotics to resolve the symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
