Addicted To Heroin. On Methadone. Will Opiate Show In My Urine?

im on methadone for heroin i have been clean for 6 months but im trying to find out if methadone will cause me to have a urine containing opiates cause i am on probation and i have had a dirty urine for opiates and i have not done any drugs in 6 months so unless i can show that it test possitive for opiates im in trouble

Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. The addition to heroin is treated with the use of methadone. The methadone is also an opioid and it is used to detox patients from the addiction to the opioid medication. To answer your question you will test positive for opioids when you take the medication for any length of time and remains in your systems for about 4-7 days after your last intake of methadone. You however may not be in trouble if you feel like you are using the medications to
get treatment for addiction from methadone and get a letter from you treating physician attesting to the same.
