Adolescent With Difficulty In Breathing And Tensed Heart. Taking Adderall For ADHD/ODD. Is This Normal?

My daughter is 12 almost 13. She has ADHD/ODD and, has been on Adderall since the age of 5. Currently she takes 40mg a day. Today she has told me she had heart pain. Feels like her heart is tensing up and hard to breathe. Doesn;t last long she said but, happened 3times today. Is this normal for this age range and, do you think it is related to her medication or could it be stress or???? Thank you for your help.

Hi,

The symptoms your child is referring might be related to increased blood pressure and heart rate. Adderall could be a reason.

So, I strongly suggest to get her checked by a cardiologist pediatrician to rule out/determine Adderall as a cause as soon as possible.

All the best!
