Hi,
It is generally not recommended to combine MDMA (ecstasy) with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as Lexapro, as it can increase the risk of
serotonin syndrome. Serotonin syndrome is a potentially life-threatening condition that can occur when there is an excess of serotonin in the brain, which can cause symptoms such as agitation, confusion, pulse rate,
hypertension, seizures and
muscle rigidity.
Even though you have stopped taking Lexapro for 10 days before taking MDMA, it is still possible that there may be residual effects of the medication in your system. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid taking MDMA while on Lexapro or for some time after stopping the medication, as there can be a delayed onset of serotonin syndrome.
It is important to note that MDMA use can have serious risks and can lead to adverse health consequences, including
dehydration,
hyperthermia, and even death. Additionally, taking ecstasy can have negative effects on mental health, including
depression, anxiety, and memory impairment. It is strongly recommended that you speak with your healthcare provider about your concerns and avoid the use of MDMA or any other illicit drugs.
