Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have been down with fever for the past 3 days(low-grade) with severe body pain. I have mild cough. First the dr put me on Augmentin Duo 625 mg and asked me to take blood R/E, urine R/E, CBC and blood culture. Reports are normal. Now another dr asked me to take cepodem 200 twice daily for 5 days. Do I really need this?
Whether or not the 2nd antibiotic you have been prescribed is useful or not, depends on what the 2nd physician noticed when you saw him especially if he examined you.
So it will be delicate and hasty to say without examining your or knowing on what basis the decision was made, to say if it is needed or not. If you have any doubt about the drugs usefulness it would be good to talk with the physician who prescribed it. He/she will better consider the prescription decision and tell you if it is useful or not.
Cheers and quick recovery.
