Advise Stretching And Strengthening Routine For Tight Latissimus Dorsi
I have had a tight latissimus dorsi for over a year due to excessive work around my house. I know how to stretch it but it also needs strengthening. It seems to be a vicious cycle - when I stretch it, it feels decent, but when I exercise it, it seems to negate all of my stretching. I need a professional to advise me on a stretching/strengthening program. I am 82 years old and cannot play golf anymore due to this condition. Thank You Al Lunz

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. You should choose one or two latissimus dorsi stretches that feel comfortable or you and repeat them 3 times daily. As your flexibility improves, the exercises can be progressed by increasing the frequency, duration and intensity of the stretches provided they are pain-free. Consult a good physiotherapist near by you. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
