Hi Vivek.
Thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic.
Diet is an important concept in treatment of
typhoid. The infection in typhoid first spreads through the intestines causing inflammation of intestines. Even after
fever subsides, the inflammation of intestines would take some more time to heal and hence you need to be more careful about what you eat. How long you should be on diet depends on how severe your infection was.
Avoid fried food, spices, junk food and fast food, high fat dairy products, butter, ghee, pies and pasta. Bland diet like bread, rice gruel are ideal during fever and later fruits like banana, mashed potato and tender coconut water can be added to diet. You can slowly improve your diet as per your Dr's suggestion.
Having said that I feel that your relapse may not entirely be due to diet and may be due to feeble immunity, persistent organisms and reinfection.
I hope this is useful to you.
