Affected With Polio. One Leg Is Smaller. Is There A Surgery To Repair This?
Hi, my wife(23 yrs old) is attacked by polio during her childhood. Her left leg is smaller than the right one. We tried many Ayurveda method, but no effect. she is losing self confidence due to this. So is it possible to cure through surgery. If so let me know the best hospital and place..And also the cost expense..It will be great helpful to us..Thanks....
Polio effects muscles. there is secondary decrease in the length of the bone. Treatment depends upon several factors like the the group of muscles that are wear and strong, any contractures, the amount of shortening.
For only slight difference, shoe modifications help.
Lengthening is possible. It is done using Ilizarov technique. The duration of treatment depends on the amount of the length that has to be gained.
It is done by Orthopaedic surgeons having interest and training in the technique. It is performed by me in our hospital.
You can tell me your location, so that I can suggest you the best near your place.
Bye
