Age -25 Sex - F Height - 5'3" Weight - 110 Race - White Duration of complaint - 2 weeks Location (Geographic and on body) - Thyroid
Hi there, not sure if I can get any opinions on this -- I know it's better to speak to the doctor but he is out of the office today.
About two weeks okay I was at work and then I felt pain in my throat when I yawned. I felt my neck and found a mass right where my thyroid is, about 2cm wide. I went to the doctor next day to get referrals to an ENT, and they sent me for ultrasounds and a blood test (still haven't heard back on the blood test, don't even get me started on that). The pain was pretty bad for a few days-- hurt to swallow, yawn, couch, etc. But the pain started to get better.
I did the ultrasounds and they found two masses on the thyroid, one I cant feel. When I finally saw the ENT last Thursday, I expressed to him my family history of Thyroid cancer (mom, grandma, great grandma), and he sent the referral for the fine needle aspiration-- which is tomorrow.
My question is, over the past few days the goiter I CAN feel got smaller, and now I can barely feel it if at all, and now I'm wondering if it's worth it to even go in for the biopsy. I realize this is probably a ridiculous question, but as someone who's paying out of pocket for these medical expenses, I don't really want to waste anyone's time if there's nothing there now. I think I'm also just extremely nervous about the procedure.
Can anyone give any advice/opinions? I would greatly appreciate that.
