Am I Pregnant If I Have Brown Spotting After Taking Antibiotics For Vaginal Infection?
I took an antibiotic prescribed by my gyno for a tiny vaginal infection that showed up in my pap. I have taken my birth control consistently but may have had unprotected sex with my husband during the time I took the antibiotics-don t remember. Well about 12-14 days before my period I started spotting dark brown gooey discharge and this lasted ironically till the the end of my scheduled period. It ended exactly when my period should have ended. I have not had any pregnancy symptoms and have taken 3 or so test-all negative. I am almost 3 weeks late from my missed period, could I be pregnant even though the tests keep saying negative?

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Drug interaction present in few antibiotics, Intake of antibiotics alters Contraceptive pills pharmacokinetics. So alters hormonal level in body, results in reduced efficacy of pill.
Urine pregnancy if performed with all precautions is sensitive enough to detect pregnancy, usually 10 days after missed periods. Blood HCG test is more sensitive to confirm or rule out pregnancy under gynecologist guidance. As your test results are negative, less likely to be pregnant, delayed periods could be due to hormonal disturbances. Consult doctor for examination and further management.
Hope this helps you.
