Am In A Wheelchair Due To MS. No Movement From The Waist To Down. Have Nondisplaced Right Medial Femoral Condyle Fracture. Brace Needed?

I AM IN A WHEELCHAIR DUE TO THE EFFECTS OF MS. I HAVE NO MOVEMENT FROM THE WAIST ON DOWN & FELL OUT OF MY CHAIR. THE ER DR SAID: NONDISPLACED RIGHT MEDIAL FEMORAL CONDYLE FRACTURE. HE GAVE ME A LEG BRACE. I AM SUPOSE TO KEEP MY LEG STRAIGHT & LEVEL. MY COMMENT, ARE YOU KIDDING ME. WHAT CAN I EXPECT IF I DO NOT USE THE BRACE SINCE I GENERALY DO NOT MOVE?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Sorry to hear that you are wheel chair bound and had a fall from your chair.
Coming to your current problem, a non displaced fracture right medial femoral condyle and advised a brace.

The brace has been given to you as per standard non displaced fracture treatment protocol. It may not be as helpful in you due to your MS. Nevertheless it will avoid any undesired movement and enhance healing.
