Am Reasonably Fit Person, No Pains As Such. Sometimes Do Get Sciatica In Calf Muscle. Suggestions?
Hi i am just curious i do get sciatica occasionally. Lately after sitting, when i stand up it takes me a while to get mobile. I am reasonably fit and play tennis and walk 3 times a week. I have no back pain but sometimes in my calf muscle and as i said after sitting for a while. Hope you can help thanks Rhonda
Hi Rhonda, What you experience in your calf muscle could be a result of momentary nerve compression, the nerve supplying your lower leg. You have not mentioned if this is present one one side only or both legs. Any ways, you could consult an orthopedic surgeon if your problem is increasing over a period and disturbing your daily activities. It is not always sciatica that causes pain in legs. It could also be due to causes like decreased blood supply to your legs or varicose veins. Your doctor will decide if you need a X ray for further investigation after doing simple clinical examination. Please explain your problem to him clearly. Hope this helps.
