Any Advise For Ultrasound Result States Liver Enlarged In Size, Increased Echogenicity ?
I am 37 year old man. My ultrasound study says Liver enlarged in size (17.5 cm) shows increased echogenicity. IHBR not dilated. Portal vein hepatic veins have normal calibers. No mass lession seen in it What does it mean? Is something very serious? I am very worried! Please help by responding to my query. Thanks...
Hello, I can understand your concern towards your health. 1) Enlarge liver + increased echogenisity are suggestive of hepatitis i.e. inflammation in liver. 2) This is not serious problem. 3) You need further evaluation to find out cause for hepatitis. You should do liver function test, hepatitis virology tests (for hepatitis b and hepatitis c), lipid profile. 4) Even sometimes, fatty liver can produce increased echo-genisity. This develop due to fat deposition in liver. 5) Hepatitis require symptomatic treatment only as it will resolve by its own.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you. Have a nice day!
