Any Medicines To Increase Breast Milk Supply? Any Formula Other Than Lactogen For My Baby?
Hello Doctor!,
My baby boy is 5 months old today and since I have insufficient milk , I am feeding ragi jawa (millet) on Doctor's suggestion.
Another doctor prescribed Lactogen and Nestle Rice. When I fed my baby with Lactogen, he suffered from stomach upset and had potty in green color. Hence switched to ragi jawa which he accepts and has no trouble. My concern is as he is below 6 months I don't want to feed him on solids for one more month. Kindly suggest an alternative.

Mother can try to increase lactation n various ways-
- More the baby sucks the breast,more is milk secretion,because baby's sucking is natural stimulus for lactation.Mother should not loose patience with the thought of inadiquet milk secretion,& give a prolonged trial.
- Mother should be healthy with addiquet iron,calcium,vitamins & proteins in her diet.
- While feeding mother should think of baby, caresses & fondle her, speak with her. She should avoid being bussy with other things while feeding baby.
_ Few drugs like Domperidon,Metoclopramide goup have quality of increasing breast secretions. They are to be taken with doctor's advice only.
-Few herbs like Shatawari,Fenugric,poppy seeds, coconut, alfafa help. To be taken with specialist's advice only.
Insted of formulamilk,cow milk,boiled & diluted in begining & adding suger to make it mildly sweet -is far better.Bottle feeding needs proper sterilization/ spoon feeding is better.
