Hello. Thanks for asking form HCM.
I can understand your concern. The punch on face usually doe not cause
brain damage and impact direction does not go through brain. Another important and favourable point is you are conscious, oriented and able to do activities.
You can rule out few signs of dangerous head injury
: vomiting
: bleed through nose/ear/throat
: fits
: persistent headache not relieving with painkillers
: onset of focal deficit
If any of above sign, you should consult ER as soon as possible. The doctor will advise CT head to rule out
Fracture or bleed. Fracture is usually managed by conservative treatment and bleed may require surgical evacuation.
If no above signs, you should not worry, you can follow few tips for relief
: Apply icepacks at injury site
: Avoid pressure at injury site
: Keep your face at higher level than chest
: You can take painkiller with anti-inflammatory action like
Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription.
: Wait for few days, it will resolve on its own in 10-14 days.
Hope it will help you. Thanks.
Take care.
