Any Suggestion For Constipation, Piles And Belly Ache During Pregnancy?
Hi, I am 38 weeks pregnant and very constipated, my midwife prescribed me lactulose on Monday and I have been taking tat, drinking plenty of water and also eating oranges, I just have belly ache but still not been, it's very uncomfortable, I also have piles, which isn't helping, what can I do?
Hello and thanks for using HCM, I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.
Constipation is common in pregnancy. I suggest that you continue lactulose and drink plenty of water. White bread also causes constipation so try to eat whole wheat bread and rice as it helps soften stools. Soups and green vegatables, carrots, pumpkin are all stool softeners and must be eaten in bulk. Bulk forming fruits are pineapple, papaya, mangoes, sapotas, strawberries. Glycerine suppositories are also useful and must be inserted in the anus. They draw water and swell softening the stool.
If still there is no response, you may need an enema to clear the rectum. I hope that this answered your question.
