Any Suggestion For Discoloration And Tenderness On Top Of Patella?

I injured my knee in an auto accident. There was a lot of discoloration, a quarter inch of mush on top of the patella, and tender to the touch all around the patella. The ER said it was not a dislocation or fracture. Seeing an Orthopedic Surgeon in the next few days. Your opinion?
