Applied Salicylic Acid For Planters Warts On Soles. Now Have Flaky Areas With Deep Cracks. Adverse Reaction?
My husband had planters warts on the soles of hisnfeet which were treated with a topical solutions containing salicylic acid. After some weeks large areas of skin on his heels and soles of his feet become had thick flakes of dry skin with red areas above the flaky areas and within the flaky areas the skin had deep cracks. His feetnthen became infected and he was treated for cellulitis with an antibiotic. Another skin specialist then gave him another cream containing a higher dose of salicylic acid and his skin on the soles of his feet has deteriorated furthernwith thick large yellowish flakes of skin and many deep cracks - I am now wondering if he has had an adverse reaction to the salicylic acid.
It might be a reaction to salicylic acid as it is an irritant. Ask him to apply some moisturisers and just wait.
Applying any other cream can irritate it further.
