Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Avil Injection And Atarax 25 Tablets Safe During Pregnancy?
my wife is pregnant during 2 months. Previous 2 days she was suffering from heavy itching problem. May be it looks like an allergy. Can avil injection or atarax 25 pills charged during this pregnant period. Please suggest an answer as it was difficult to stay as the days passed by.
Thank you for your query. All itching especially in pregnancy cannot be taken for granted as allergic. It would be better for your wife to be seen by a doctor to exclude other causes like liver problems before assuming that it is allergic. Both Avil and Atarax are category C drugs which mean that there have been harmful effects in animal studies using large doses and that no studies are available in humans. This is so with most medicines. So it is to be used only if her doctor feels that the benefits outweighs the risks. You are welcome to ask if you have more queries, Dr. Noble Zachariah
