Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My brother was visiting today and suddenly he could not focus and became dizzy and unable to walk without holding on to some furniture. He has a quadruple bypass in the past and states that he has trouble sleeping and is extremely tired. Took his blood pressure and it was 151/71 and his pulse was 49. Is there cause for concern?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Pulse rate of 49 is considered as very low. And all his symptoms, dizziness, Tiredness, giddiness etc are due to low pulse rate. So better to consult cardiologist and get done ecg, Holter monitoring (24 hours continuous recording of Ecg). He might be having heart block which needs pacemaker insertion. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your brother. Thanks.
