Are Bacitracin And Polymyxin B Sulfate Advisable For An Eye Infection?
I have had cateract surgery in both eyes recently and the eye Dr gave me some creams in a tube for infection in my eye. I thought it was better and stopped using it. It s infected again I think and found some cream but not sure if this is the right cream. It s Bacitracin Zinc and Polymyxin B Sulfate Ophthaimic Ointment USP.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Since you are having eye infection, it is advisable not to use previously used remaining ointments or drops as you have a risk of contacting infection from new organisms as these medications already used are not streile. Hence, such practice might do more harm than good. It would be better to get yourself assessed by an Ophthalmologist so that proper medications can be prescribed to overcome the infection. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
