Hi & Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concern regarding the safety of Beta blockers while treating high BP while suffering from diabetes.
Beta blockers are not advisable for the treatment of high BP in patients with diabetes who are taking Insulins to control their blood glucose level.
1. Beta blockers can mask the signs and symptoms of Insulin or 'hypoglycemic awareness' which can be dangerous in diabetic patient.
2. Beta blockers may also interfere with the blood glucose levels because of they interfere with the carbohydrate metabolism in the liver.
Hence, they should be avoided in patient with diabetes.
Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors like Lisinopril are the standard treatment of high BP in patients with diabetes. They not only reduce the high BP effectively, but also prevent the complications of diabetes involving the kidneys.
Hope the suggestions would be useful to you.
