Are Cipralex And Abilify Effective In Treating Depression And Anxiety?

Hi I have been prescribed 20 mg cipralex and was originally on 2 mg of ability but was increased to 4 mg of abilify. Can you tell me is this a good combination to help with my depression and anxiety? Also when I do not want to take ability any longer, how do I wean myself off? I am on 2 tablets of 2 mg ea.

Cipralex – it contains escitalopram. It is a very effective anti-depressant. It can be used for treatment of depression on long term basis because of its proven safety.
Abilify – it contains aripiprazole. It is an anti-psychotic. Sometimes anti-psychotic is used for severe depression, depression with suicidal ideation or depression with psychotic features. It will not help in anxiety.
Cipralex & Abilify are not effective in treatment of anxiety.
Advice
1.     Continue Cipralex & Abilify as suggested by your doctor
2.     Do not change dose or medicine by yourself unless suggested by your doctor
3.     For anxiety you can add alprazolam 0.25 mg at bed time for 1 month. You can discuss with your doctor about this.
