Are Cleocin And Bactrim Advisable For Infection Caused Due To Dog S Bite?
Just got bitten by my dog in several areas....none need stitches. I have some current meds of my wife. Can I take either Cleocin or Bactrim to prevent an infection. He bit me a couple of years back and I had an infection on my hand, which my dr gave me antibiotics. Victor Byrd YYYY@YYYY
You have just bitten by dog at several areas as per the description. In recent bite, there are no threats of immediate infection and hence, there is no hurry for you to decide to start antibiotics at first glance. Primary guidelines include: - Wash all wounds with sterile copious amount of water - Sterile dressing - Local application of Polymycin cream - Booster dose of anti rabies vaccine as per the WHO guidelines - Discuss need of any prophylactic antibiotic with your primary care provider during your scheduled visit at the time of taking ARV shot - Control of blood sugar
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
