I have been diagnosed with laryngeal spasm (vocal cord dysfunction) secondary to pain, tightening near collarbones and throat, especially with exertion. This diagnosis was made by my allergist. He ruled out asthma with a breathing machine (measured inhale/exhale rate) and graph and gave me this diagnosis. He told me that I had gotten this secondary to a bad cough I had several moths ago (this cough was because of post nasal drip). He prescribed Flovent 44mcg, 2 puffs 2x/day, Nasonex for any post nasal drip I might still have and Tessalon 200mg, 3x/day. He said the use these meds for 3 weeks. Well it has been one week and I am just slightly better and I m wondering if I should have my vocal cords scoped or at the very least see an ENT. Should I be concerned that my diagnosis was made too quickly?
