Are Glipizide, Januvia And Metformin Advisable For Diabetes In An Elderly Person?

I am 68 years old and suffer from diabetes type two. I take glipizide, januvia and metformin. I heard from a friend that his doctor said people over 65 shouldn t take glipizide and shouldn t take januvia because of possible heart valve problems. Any of that true? Thnx!

Hello,

You can take metformin tablet. In anyway heart and lungs should be tested and if there is any problem detected should be treated properly.

Otherwise, metformin is the drug for type two diabetes. Without investigation, it is not possible to say that disease from which the patient is suffering.

Don't take any medicine without doctors advice as it may create a problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
