Are Klor-Con, Toprol And Lasix The Right Medication For Dementia And Alzheimer S Disease?
Hello, My 87 year old 100 lb mother recently came to live with my husband and I. She has been diagnosed with Altheimers/Dimensia. She takes Klor-Con,Toprol and Lasix. Her current medical provider had told her during a recent visit that 2 six ounce glasses of wine per evening were acceptable. I can definitely see a worsening of her short term memory from just one month ago and have begun to see if there s anything I can do while she s staying with me. Should I re-review her meds with the new Doctor I m taking her to see at the Swank Memory Center? Should I further limit her alcohol intake? I m curious as to why no one has recommended Prevogen or Tumeric

The medications of Klor Con is for potassium supplement reason. The Toprol is a beta blocker and Lasix is a diuretic used for variety of heart and other systemic disorders of fluid over load or other homeostasis aspects. There are supportive molecules for short term memory loss as vitamin B12, folate, zinc, selenium and else which can help your mom over a period of time. Definite thing is reduction of alcohol intake to prevent faster worsening of memory loss via effects of Hippocampus region of the brain. She must be consulted with an expert neurologist in this regard for further prescription medicines.
