Are Levothyroxine And Adderall Advisable For Thyroid And Auto-immune Disorder?
hello, I am a 42/yr old female who has had a hysterectomy and now I have an auto-immune disorder as well as a thyroid disorder that is being called hypothyroidism although I demonstrate the symptoms of both hypo and hyper-thyroid disorder(s). I stopped taking my levoxothyrine medication (50mg) and now it looks as if i suffer from what I believe is called a thyroid storm . I also take Adderall (30mg/3x s daily) I am worried that I am not receiving the correct treatment for any of the disorders that I have and I am not sure how to direct my physician in the correct direction for treatment of my symptoms. what should I do? also, my surgery was one year ago and I am not taking HRT other than birth control, and the surgery was due to stage 4 cancer from HPV #13

General & Family Physician, Dr. Juna Luzi's Response
Hello dear. 90% of women suffering from hypothyroidism have the so called Hashimoto thyroids. So you need to check the anticorpes of the thyroid gland too. You have to continue levothyroxine too, during all your life. Trust your physician and talk to her!
