Are Methylprednisolone And Nortriptyline Advisable For Headache?
After suffering a headache for 2 weeks and eating Aleve I saw a neurologist. He prescribed a 21 day dosage of methy lprednislone and nortriptyline and told me to quit taking otc meds. The pain is still bad. what exactly is he thinking?
Your neurologist seems to have prescribed you the treatment for occipital neuralgia. Occipital neuralgia is a common cause of headache. It involves the occipital nerves — two pairs of nerves that originate near the second and third vertebrae of the neck. It may occur spontaneously, or as the result of a pinched nerve root in the neck or because of prior injury or surgery to the scalp or skull.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
