Are Minocycline Capsules Advisable For Tooth Infection And Throat Irritation?

Can I take minocycline 100 mg capsules twice a day for a tooth infection and throat irritation. I take other pills like lisinopril estrogen progestogen and Prozac I also take an occasional vicodin and ibuprofen for pain what would be I am a 52 year old 170 pound woman with my dosage be 100 twice a day

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Minocycline is an antibiotic belonging to tetracycline group and is not commonly used to treat dental infections and is commonly used to treat cases of severe acne, urinary tract infection, respiratory infection,skin infections etc..
So in case if you are suffering from dental infection you can be advised to take antibiotics like Augmentin, Cephalosporins etc..
I would however suggest you to first consult a dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can also be advised to take antibiotics and also treatments depending upon condition of tooth can help in treatment..
For throat infection along with antibiotics like Minocycline or those that can be given for tooth infection can be helpful and you can do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations..
