Are Moxifloxacin And Cycloserine Advisable For Tuberculosis?
My brothers fnac test of the gland left neck shows tuberculosis abscess. Pus culture and sensitivity test and genexpert test shows MTB detected and rif resisted. He is taking anti tb drugs such as-ethambutol.ethonid.kanamycin. moxifloxacin. Cycloserine.is he taking right drugs and is this kind of tb is curable.
hello,if gene xpert shows resistance to rifampicin it indicates multidrug resistance TB, it means it is resistant to both isoniazid and rifampicin . if pt is having MDR TB he should be started on second line drugs , and your brother right now on correct line of drugs . culture and sensitivity is the gold standard method to decide about resistance but it is very long time taking. if sputum samples doesn't turn negative after 2_3 months , advised to get culture to check for extended drug resistance. at present he is on correct regimen
