Are PPI S Advisable While On Nitroglycerine For GERD And Heartburn?
I have problem with heartburn and GERD my Dr. prescribed me with PPI med. It did n seem to help me at all.I had 3 bypasses 8 yrs.ago and have to take Nitroglycerine (Nitrate) every day since. I just wonder that PPI.med. had some kind of the interact with Nitrate.
There is no significant drug interaction between nitrate and PPI. GERD is a very resistant condition and sometimes it becomes unresponsive to medicines alone. Lifestyle changes are needed along medicines to control symptoms of GERD. Advice 1. Continue nitrate as suggested by your doctor 2. Omeprazole 20 mg per oral empty stomach for 15 days 3. Domperidone 10 mg daily per oral for 10 days 4. Avoid alcohol, smoking, spicy food, and non-steroidal pain killer 5. Avoid eating 3 hours before lying down 6. Do not take heavy meal at a time. Divide your meal into smaller parts 7. Raise the head of your bed I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question Thanks
