Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Bronchitis means that the bronchi (some of the air passages in the lungs) are inflamed and in his case, infected. This can cause excess mucus and affect the passage of air in some persons, in others, there are not a lot of problems. It can be due to viral or bacterial infection. The predcort would help to reduce the inflammation in his air ways and reducing this inflammation would help with coughing.

The zithrocare is an antibiotic. This means that they suspect a bacterial infection in his case, this is a good antibiotic and he should respond well to it. If there are any concerns regarding the medication, you may want to consider seeing or speaking to his doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
