Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im 11 weeks pregnant with twins. This is my first pregnancy. My doctor had prescribed me to take susten twice a day either orally or vaginally. I am perfectly healthy but she prescribed this med only for precautions. I got a lot of bad reviews about sustens side effects from a lot of people. So i took a 2nd opinion from a very senior gynac known to me who said i can avoid the medicine. So i didn t take it. Now my cousin who has recently delivered, said i should take susten as its for our own good. I m really confused. Please suggest.
Hello dear user! I appreciate you are sharing your concerns with us on HCM!
Susten is a medication that contains progesterone. It usually is given in pregnancy to protect from any possible miscarriage. Since you have twins it will be helpful to you more then other women to prevent progesterone deficiency. It is preferable to take vaginally up to the 12th week of pregnancy.
Before you start taking this medication you had better consult with your gynecologist who follows you. Take care and all the best! DR ERIOL.
