Are Triphala And Metpure Xl The Right Medication For Liver Cirrhosis?

Thank you Doctor for the help. Here is my question. My mother aged 78 years was diagnosed with Hep C and mild liver cirrhosis. She is not a diabetic and has never been an alcoholic. She had been diagnosed to have cholesterol in 2002 and since then had been taking Triphalal hg as prescribed by the Dr. Now she has been prescribed with Metpure XL 50 mg (once a day) for her heart, Rifagut 555mg (twice a day), Lasix 40mg (1/2 tablet every alternate day), Aldactone 25 mg (one every alternate day), Zincovit (once a day), Udiliv 300mg (twice a day) and Sofokem L and has been taking these medications since Dec. 28th. Dr. has asked that Sofokem be stopped after 3 months. Question is can we reduce or stop the other medications too.

Hello,

Sorry about your mother. Chronic hepatitis c infection may cause cirrhosis of the liver.

Once cirrhosis is developed then there's is no medication to make it recovery.

But the drugs which your mother is taking is used to treat the cirrhosis associated complications.

So please consult your gastroenterologist he will examine and treat her accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
