Are Vitamin Supplements Advisable For Hair Loss?

I have been having loss of my hair, do I need a vitamin? I am 77, and they always say it is my age. I had a spell last year, but I had a bad urinary track infection, and once I got over that, my hair went back to normal. Now it is happening again and I am really concerned! Please help me. Both of my parents were in their 90 s when they passed away and both had a lot of hair. My hair is completely silver. I take medication for high blood pressure, potassium, synthroid, which my Dr. sees that I get blood work done regularly to keep on top of all of those. Thanks for what ever help you can give me.
