Are Z=Pac And Percocet Advisable While On Effexor And Clonazepam?
Hi ! I have a severe otitis media w excruciating pain. I want to go on a z PAC x2 w Percocet. . My hx is hyperthyroidism w stress induced afib. Current meds: 150 mg Effexor, Clonazepam 1mg ha pen. I m aware of narcotics vs benezos. I was an RN for 33yrs. What say you?:)
Z-pac is good antibiotics and doesn't have any major interaction with the drugs mentioned so are safe to be taken. Regarding Percocet, you are right opioids are not very good with benzodiazepines as they both may potentially cause respiratory depression however with a low dose that's not a big problem. You may take them. Still, if you are too conscious about it, you may take Ibuprofen instead of Percocet, which may also work better for otitis media.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
