Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Abdominal Cramps, Dark Colored Urine And Nausea Suggestive Of Kidney Stones?
I have had 2 kidney stones in the past. Right now my urine is a dark orange color, I am not peeing very much at all, my stomach is cramping (but not like a sharp pain like when the stone is actually moving), I am nauseous. Do you think I have the early symptoms of a kidney stone or something else?
Hi. If I Would have been your treating physician,I would come up with following possibilities:
1) First possibility is of dehydration. In Dehydration, Serum creatinine level increases which causes nausea like feeling. I suggest you to drink at least 3-4 liter of water everyday. It will also lead to dark yellow colored urine.
2) Second possibility is of Urinary Tract Infection. In UTI, Fever with chills and rigors with burning micturition is characteristic. Urine routine microscopy and culture will help in diagnosis of UTI.
3) Third possibility is of Renal stone. In stone, You will have gasping pain in lower abdomen sometime radiating to back and groin region if stone is in ureter.
I would suggest you to get urine routine and microscopy test, Ultrasonography (USG) abdomen done and increase intake of fluids including water. Even if it continues then I would suggest you to consult your treating physician. I hope this has answered your question.Even if you have any question then you can ask me anytime
Regards
Dr.Hamid
