Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Abdominal Cramps Normal After Getting A Depo Shot?
Hello I m a person on the depo shot for birth control and I wnat to know if it s normal for me to get my period for like two hours and have it hurt to move and function rather than cramps? Also a large clump of something came out of me. Overall I m just concerned about this.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Your symptoms are quite common during depo shots. Nothing to worry. Both birth control pills and the Depo-Provera shot are very safe for most women to use.
As with any medicine, they can still cause unwanted side effects. For birth control shots, side effects can include:
1. irregular periods, which are more common in the first six to 12 months after your first injection 2. increased spotting and breakthrough bleeding 3. a change in appetite 4. weight gain 5. a change in sexual drive and interest 6. nausea 7. tender, sore breasts 8. a headache 9. mood change
Hope I have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best.
With warm regards, Dr. Sanjay Kini
