Are Abdominal Pain, Chills And Fever In A Child With Diabetes A Cause For Conern?

hi , my 12 yo son ,type 1 diabetic x 6 mos,(not sure if he has celiac) has stomach pain/discomfort for 6-8 hrs , on and off. had some bread and small amt of soup for dinner . he has chills(under 2 blankets still cold), wife says he doesnt look good , went to pediatrician a few hrs ago , who was not too concerned .temp 99.4,

Hi.

The only cause for concern is that any infection in a diabetic can cause the blood sugar levels to go tupsy turvy. Infections are common, especially in children and if the pediatrician didnt find it a cause for concern, I am sure it is just something seasonal and will gradually subside.

Just keep an eye on his blood sugar levels and introduce control if at all necessary, no other cause for concern sir.
