Are Antibiotics Advisable For A Toddler With Rashes All Over The Body?
two year old grandson has a rash that started on one side where diaper attached . Then it started spreading. Now a week later the rash is all over his body and seems to be just getting worse. Told daughter to change soaps, shampoos, stop some foods, but not sure what else to do. Does he need antibiotics? She took him to the pediatric doctor but he didn t have any answer.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your toddler have symptoms of rashes all over the body. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like urticaria , psoriasis, sunburn, contact dermatitis and due to increased skin sensitivity. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to cover the skin and protect it from direct sunlight , apply petroleum jelly and apply cold compresses to reduce redness and inflammation . Also keep your baby hydrated . If condition doesn't get well then consult pediatrician for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory , antihistamine or corticosteroid ointment after proper examination .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
