Are Antibiotics Required For Treating The Swollen Lymph Node Under The Ear?
Doctor told me I had a viral infection without actually coming to emerg to see me ,my problem is my lymph node is swollen under ear my throat isn't sore my neck is now my shoulder is that not an infection that needs anti biotics its like a toothache on my neck
As per your complain Regional Lymphadenopathy or swollen lymph nodes can be due to infection caused by bacteria or virus and can be confirmed only after clinical examination and laboratory investigations..
In case if no infection is ruled out lymphadenopathy can also occur due to lymph node tumor known as Lymphoma..
In case if you have bacterial infection then only it is recommended to take antibiotics as they act oy against bacteria and not virus..
So before taking any medication the first thing you should do is to consult a physician and get proper clinical check up done to rule out the cause of lymphadenopathy and get treated accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
